The Revolving Doors of Rehab
by Elizabeth Valkevich

Rehab. It seems that if you haven’t been to rehab these days, there must be something wrong with you. Truly, it seems like it’s becoming the thing to do. If you are considered a somebody in Hollywood, you probably have graced the likes of Promises or Circe Lodge to clean up some addiction problems. Addiction is a cunning and painful disease that requires relentless effort to attain recovery, yet Hollywood stars and the media in the past months have made the idea o rehab so prevalent, that drug, alcohol and other serious issues are nearly glorified. The torture of the disease is not stressed, just the plush luxury of the rehab centers and the unspoken encouragement that if relapse occurs, simply return to the oasis of rehab and everything will be ok. This message is unfortunate and very unrealistic.

The most notable rehab-ers include Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Kate Moss, Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie, to name a few. The message conveyed by the revolving rehab doors in the lives of Hollywood stars is very dangerous. The vision of recovery from addiction is made to look enjoyable, and that is certainly not the case. Also, staying clean and sober is a 24/7 job, which is not emphasized by the recovering stars or the media. Partying in excess is what stars do and whether it is to mask pain, or to fit in, it lands them in rehab either way. Rehab is not the new black and celebrities have the pull in the media to change the message being conveyed to the masses so that further glorification of drugs, alcohol and 30-day vacations can be avoided.

Christian Bale Arrested
by Stephanie Williams

Christian Bale, superhero of The Dark Night just got even darker. Police say that Bale has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister on Sunday, the night before the London premiere of The Dark Night. Bale went to the London police station Tuesday morning on an appointment where he was handcuffed and arrested. Bale spent four hours at the police station where he was questioned about the incident.
According to Sky News, Bale's mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, went to the police on Monday to make a formal allegation against Bale. The complaint about the actor was then passed on to the Metropolitan Police for further investigation.
The official word on the street is that “a 34-year-old male” was taken into custody “in the late morning today” at the police station in Central
London. Coincidently, Bale is 34 years old. They told TMZ the allegation derived from another police agency, but that the incident in question did in fact take place in London. Although British police do not give out the names of suspects before they are formally charged, they did say later in a statement that “the man had been released on bail pending further inquiries” and was told to return at a later date, sometime in September.
Previously, Bale told E! Online, “if everyone really knew what a jerk I am in real life, I wouldn’t be so adored in the slightest.” This statement really pokes at the idea of whether this was, in fact, Christian Bale.
